For the third year in a row, representatives of businesses and organizations of all sizes from both the public and private sectors gathered in Morgantown, West Virginia, for the Tech Yeah technology conference. And, once again, a record number of attendees participated in the event.
Tech Yeah 3.0 saw nearly 600 attendees at the June 20 conference, a substantial increase over the two previous years.
“There were many new faces at the conference this year,” said Trilogy Innovations CEO Brandon Downey, “and that definitely was the differentiator in having a record attendance. The conference growth is beneficial in a number of different ways — from discussing high-profile industry topics to working to infuse economic diversity into the West Virginia economy.”
Created and managed by the Charles Robert Pinkerton Foundation, Trilogy is a major host of the conference designed to emphasize the importance of cooperation and collaboration with West Virginia’s technology sector. Topics of discussion this year included Artificial Intelligence, as it relates to government and digital transformation, and Cybersecurity, specifically the challenges and difficulties facing government agencies today.
David Carroll, Associate Director for Mission Engineering, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), addressed the crowd as the keynote speaker. Carroll, who is a resident of West Virginia, emphasized CISA’s partnership with Tech Yeah and sharing technical innovation together — from small businesses to large companies.
“I strongly believe we can’t execute our mission without private sector partner innovation and support,” Carroll told Tech Yeah attendees. “To execute cyber defense and the best analytics, we need not only the national players, but also the SBAs to join us.”
Carroll took the opportunity to tout West Virginia as a valuable resource in the national security arena. “As a West Virginia resident,” he said, “I believe and promote the incredible National Security work that’s done in what is a little-known secret within the state.”
Additionally, a number of industry leaders from both the public and private sectors served on multiple panels that engaged the record crowd.
“We got a lot of positive feedback about our main topics and the overall structure of the conference,” said Randy Cottle, Trilogy President. “Tech Yeah has allowed us to invite many federal agencies and private sector standouts to the table, which was valuable for everyone in the room.”
Cottle said that, because of the constantly changing landscape of the technology industry, staying new and fresh on conference topics is essential.
“We have to stay on the cutting edge when it comes to the topics we present, and there has to be an appetite for those topics. Attendees told us they were extremely happy with the topics and panels at this year’s conference,” Cottle said.
Downey added, “Tech Yeah 3.0 came together thanks to a superb group effort. It’s been humbling to see the amount of growth we’ve had over the past three years, in all aspects of the event. We certainly plan to continue on that path.”
